"Concrete Angel"
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
[Repeat Chorus]
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
[Repeat Chorus]
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

I recently heard this song, and the lyrics broke my heart. Even more so tho, the thought that this could be happening to children that I know, is most heartbreaking.
My heart breaks...
...for the children caught in the nightmare of living in terror of what is going to happen to them next. ...for those who don't know where their next meal is going to be.
...for those who shake in fear when Mom or Dad come home, because they know they're going to be in for violent treatment.
...for those who are constantly being told they aren't worth anything, they'll never amount to much, and they should never have been born.
....for those who bear the bruises and scars received at the hands of the people in their life that should have shown them love, care, and compassion.
...for those who fall asleep in dirty clothes, with ratty hair, and dirty, tear stained cheeks, because no one cared how they looked.
...for those who wish that someone, anyone, would care enough for them to look close enough to see the silent signs, and to be willing to save them from their living nightmare.
We need to be more then aware of what is going on around us, we need to be willing to step into the front line of the battle and willing to give our time and energy to rescue the children who live in constant danger and oppression. Satan has a strong hand clamped across the families and children of America, but the power of the Risen Savior and Lord is no comparison to the tactics of the devil. Where the people of the Lord pray and move, Satan has to flee.
